About the area

Castle Cary, described by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the eminent architectural historian, as Somerset’s prettiest town, lies in beautiful unspoilt countryside. The town is characterised by period buildings constructed of the distinctive honey coloured stone for which the area is well known. It remains a delightful small market town with a number of traditional shops and boutiques within the Conservation Area in which a policy of strict planning control operates to prevent inappropriate development. These shops cater for most everyday needs whilst Shaftesbury, Glastonbury, Street, Wells, Frome, Wincanton, Sherborne and Yeovil are all close by and Salisbury, Taunton, Bath and Bristol are in easy driving distance.

*

On the outskirts of Castle Cary is the railway station with its direct line to Paddington and the A303 road link is a few miles south. There are excellent state schools in the area - Ansford Academy boasts excellent exam grades and independent schools include the Sherborne and Bruton schools, Millfield, Wells Cathedral, Hazlegrove, Port Regis and St. Mary’s Shaftesbury.

Accommodation (Plots 3-5)

Station Road is a popular residential area, conveniently located for the shops, Doctors surgery schools and Railway Station. The houses are have brick elevations under a tiled food and are entered via a porch which leads into an inner hallway. The sitting room at the front of each house is of a good size and has a large sash style window allowing the light to flood in.

**

At the rear of the house is the fabulous kitchen dining room which features a brand new Howdens fitted kitchen with a range of wall and base units, drawers and worktops. Integral appliances include a Lamona electric cooker with hob and extractor, Lamona dishwasher and washing machine. The sink unit looks out onto the courtyard and up towards the Church and Lodge Hill beyond - a view shared with all rooms at the rear of the property. The room itself is well proportioned and there’s easily enough room for a dining table. French doors open out onto the courtyard, encouraging inside outside living in the summer months. Also on the ground floor is a cloakroom with w/c.

***

Upstairs on the first floor are two double bedrooms. The larger of which is at the front of the house and enjoys an en-suite shower room and a built in wardrobe. Both rooms have large sash style windows so they’re lovely and bright. The family bathroom on this floor has a bath with overhead shower, basin, w/c and airing cupboard. Leading further upstairs to the second floor are two attic bedrooms with Velux roof lights. Both rooms are of a good size and the larger bedroom has a built in wardrobe.

Outside

The courtyard at the rear of the property is laid to gravel with a patio area for easy maintenance. The courtyard faces South and enjoys a view towards Lodge Hill. A gate leads to a footpath to the rear.
