About The Area
About the area
Wells is the smallest city in England (population 10,000) lying in beautiful countryside between the Somerset Levels and the Mendip Hills – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The major towns of the area, being Bristol, Bath Taunton and Yeovil are all within commuting distance. Wells has local markets twice a week and many medieval buildings including the Cathedral and moated Bishops Palace. There is a busy local shopping centre and a broad range of societies and activities.
North Wootton lies just south of Wells surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Somerset. There are lush green meadows and wooded hills- all readily accessible with many footpaths and byways. The village is certainly one of the most popular in the area and has a Church, pub and a thriving community. There are excellent state & independent schools in the area including Wells Blue School, Wells Cathedral School, Strode College, Millfield, All Hallows and Downside.
Glastonbury is close by and Castle Cary with its main line rail connection is about 10 miles south. For more information on this area visit our website www.roderickthomas.co.uk
Worminster Barns, located just north of North Wootton towards Wells, in an absolutely delightful location, is a group of traditional stone barns, which has recently been re-developed into four outstanding individual properties.
Sleight Barn enjoys a fabulous central position with quite superb views, great privacy and stylish, very generous accommodation which maximises the rural outlook. In short it includes a hall, cloakroom, sitting room, snug (or 6th bedroom), a “wow” open plan kitchen & dining room, 5 bedrooms, 4 bath or shower rooms, utility room and plant/boiler room.
Most rooms have high pitched ceilings with exposed beams and rafters together with wall and ceiling lighting. Floors are carpeted, tiled or oak and a major feature are the large windows and garden doors which combine to flood the barn with sunshine – benefiting as it does from a south facing aspect.
The accommodation is well arranged with the living areas centrally placed and 2 wings providing the bedrooms and bathrooms.
The sitting room is a stunning room with huge windows and a wood burning stove. The kitchen & dining room is equally impressive and has fitted units, granite work surfaces and appliances including an American style fridge, Bosch double oven and a five ring ceramic Range Master hob with an extractor above.
Well positioned off the back of the kitchen is the utility room with further units and plumbing for a washing machine and dryer.
Double doors lead from the kitchen into a room which can be used as a snug, study, formal dining room, or indeed a 6th bedroom.
The inner hall from the kitchen has a cloakroom leads to 2 double bedrooms, each with en suite shower rooms.
The other inner hall leads from the sitting room and to a bathroom, 2 double bedrooms and the master bedroom suite with a large bedroom, dressing room and en suite bathroom
A plant room behind the reception hall has equipment including an oil fired central heating boiler augmented by pv and solar panels, the pressurised water system, water softener and under floor heating controls.
The property has a large parking area and a garage block, which has space for two cars plus storage. A side store contains the oil central heating boiler. The garage is equipped with light and electricity points.
Steps lead from the parking to the front of the house with level lawns and a paved path to the front door. The land running south below the drive is part of the property which totals about 2 acres.
