About the area

Burtle is a small hamlet on the edge of the village of Westhay, a village and civil parish 3 miles north-west of Glastonbury which has been a settled site for even longer than Glastonbury. Burtle has a vibrant community, Gastro local pub vibrant village hall and societies and clubs. Nearby are the nature reserves of Westhay Moor and Westhay Heath, which have both been designated as sites of special scientific interest. There is easy access to the other towns of the area including Wells, Glastonbury, Street and Wedmore whilst Bristol and Yeovil are well within commuting distance.

Robins Lane is a quiet country lane with very little traffic and in all probability no through traffic. Nonetheless it's in easy reach of the surrounding local towns. The property has access off this lane to a large parking area with a footpath leading across the lawn to the south facing house.

Glebe Farmhouse is a very handsome wisteria clad stone building under a tiled roof. The front door opens into a traditional cross passage hall with a back door to the rear courtyard. Off to the right of the hall is the large farmhouse style kitchen/dining/living room with beams and flagstones. The kitchen area has a range of fitted units and a Rayburn cooker. There's plenty of space for a large table and chairs and there are also double doors to the garden. The sitting room area has a beautiful inglenook with an inset woodburning stove. Off the kitchen is a large utility room/boot room with access to the courtyard.

Returning to the hall and a door to the left opens to a well proportioned sitting room with beams, a window seat overlooking the garden and also an inglenook with an inset multi fuel stove. Beyond is a downstairs bedroom with a dressing room that has french doors to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom with a Victorian bath and a separate shower. Upstairs there are a further four large bedrooms and a cloakroom.

Outside Double gates lead from the lane to a large parking area with parking for a number of vehicles. A pathway then leads through the very pretty and well planted front garden to the house. At the rear is a sheltered and private courtyard with outbuildings with the whole area reminiscent of the Dordogne or Tuscany with stone paving and mellow, weathered clay tiled roofs. These outbuildings total about 600 sq.ft. and include an orangery, workshop and stores.
