About the area
Castle Cary, described by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the eminent architectural historian, as Somerset's prettiest town, lies in beautiful unspoilt countryside. The town is characterised by period buildings constructed of the distinctive honey coloured stone for which the area is well known.
It remains a delightful small market town with a number of traditional shops and boutiques within the Conservation Area in which a policy of strict planning control operates to prevent inappropriate development.
These shops cater for most everyday needs whilst Shaftesbury, Glastonbury, Street, Wells, Frome, Wincanton, Sherborne and Yeovil are all close by and Salisbury, Taunton, Bath and Bristol are in easy driving distance. On the outskirts of Castle Cary is the railway station with its direct line to Paddington and the A303 road link is a few miles south.
Torbay Close is a quiet no through lane just off Torbay Road. The close is desirable due to it’s close proximity to the High Street and all other amenities.
At the front of the house a pretty front garden, predominantly laid to lawn with flower borders sets the house back from the lane and a path leads to the front door.
Beyond the entrance hall to the right is the large and light sitting room which opens into the dining room through an archway giving a triple aspect. French doors leads out to the patio garden to the rear from both the dining room and the study adjacent that currently provides a craft room cum 3rd bedroom for the current owner.
The kitchen, accessed from both the entrance hall and sitting room, has a superb range of storage cupboards as well as plate racks, a Rangemaster cooker & hob, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.
On the other side of the house there are two well proportioned double bedrooms with a contemporary bathroom and cloakroom across the hall. The bathroom room has a bath with shower overhead, w/c and a basin.
The current owner has also converted the attic into a further room with a dormer window and a ladder staircase for access.
Behind the house there is a well looked after patio garden, fully enclosed with a low picket fence and mainly laid to gravel for easy maintenance. There is plenty of space to sit and dine in the warmer months and a shed provides storage for garden furniture or indeed garden tools. To the right hand side of the house there is a driveway providing parking.
Mains gas, water, electricity and drainage. Council Tax Band D - South Somerset Local Authority.
