About the area
North Cadbury is a sought after village set in picturesque countryside which is typical of this area of South Somerset. Together with the neighbouring village of South Cadbury it enjoys a close community spirit with a thriving village store, active village hall and two traditional public houses. More extensive amenities are available in the nearby towns of Castle Cary, Bruton, Yeovil and Sherborne.
The village has a well regarded primary school and the senior schools at Ansford in Castle Cary and Sexeys in Bruton both have excellent reputations. Sherborne Boys and its separate Girls School are renowned in the private sector and nearby at Bruton is the Kings School for Boys and also the Girls School. Leweston Independent School at Sherborne has a preparatory school for boys up to eight and its Girls School provides full education for girls between eleven and eighteen.
Longcroft enjoys an elevated and private position, set way back from the village lane behind a thick hedgerow. The house was built in the 1950s having been updated and improved over the years.
The front door opens into an entrance lobby which itself opens into in inner hall with a staircase rising to the first floor.
The sitting room, to the left hand side of the hallway is bathed in light thanks to it’s triple aspect. There is a coal effect gas fire for when the weather gets chilly, and conversely patio doors to the garden for the warmer months.
The kitchen sits at the rear of the house having a separate entrance for shopping convenience. Set into the wooden worktops is a gas hob with electric cooker beneath and the array of drawers and cupboards provides ample storage. Adjacent is a utility/larder. The house isn’t short of space for dining too as in addition to the breakfast area in the kitchen, there is a separate dining room at the front of the house. The dining room has a more elegant, formal feel with a fireplace, alcoves, coving and a bay window looking out to the front garden.
Upstairs there are four double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The master bedroom at the back of the house has wonderful views over the farmland to the rear, as well as an en-suite shower room and built in wardrobes.
The moment you drive into Longcroft, it’s clear to see that the gardens are the standout feature. The high levels of privacy, expansive lawned areas, greenhouse and variety of shrubs and plants make this a true gardeners paradise. Beyond the gardens to the rear is a lovely expanse of farmland rolling down to the brook in the distance.
The driveway from the village lane leads up to a generous gravelled parking area in front of the detached double garage.
Mains water, drainage and electricity. LPG gas central heating.
From Castle Cary take the Yeovil Road (A359) and after the village of Galhampton take the next turning left sign posted North Cadbury. Continue into the village and after a few hundred yards the house can be found on your left.
