THE TRAP HOUSE, THE GREEN, DITCHEAT, SHEPTON MALLET, BA4 6QZ
About the area
Ditcheat is a very popular and ancient village (mentioned in the Doomsday Book as belonging to Glastonbury Abbey) 10 miles south of Wells and 3 miles north of Castle Cary with its main line service to London. These and the other nearby towns of Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Street all offer ample facilities. The village has a primary school, church, a very good pub and restaurant and Paul Nicholls racing stables being the home of Kauto Star and Denman (in fact residents have commented the horses trotting through the village are the noisiest thing they hear.)
There are good state and independent schools in the area including Ditcheat and other primary schools, Crispins, St. Dunstans, Millfield, All Hallows, Wells Blue School, Strode College and the Bruton and Sherborne schools.
The Trap House has been beautifully improved by the current vendor and now provides an appealing home set back from the village green.
The front door opens into the charming kitchen/dining/living room which has a door to the private rear garden. There's also a stable door from the kitchen through into the sitting room.
The kitchen has a tiled floor and is well equipped with base units, a Logic electric oven with a 4 ring induction hob and hood over. There is space and plumbing for a washing machine, tumble drier and fridge freezer.
The sitting room has a tiled floor, a brick decorative fireplace, a window overlooking the garden and a roof light.
Upstairs the bedroom has built in storage and dressing area. The en-suite bathroom has a white suite with a shower cubicle wc and pedestal wash hand basin.
The cottage is approached directly from the lane and has a very pleasant, south facing garden, currently gravelled for ease of maintenance and providing great space for relaxation and al fresco dining. Beyond is a vegetable bed and a summerhouse.
From Castle Cary, proceed on the A371 towards Shepton Mallet, turning left just past Moff Motors signposted Alhampton and Ditcheat. Continue through the village of Alhampton until reaching Ditcheat. Turn left at the Junction, and take the first left before the Manor Inn. The Cottage will be found on the left hand side of the village Green set down a private drive.
