Shapwick is a quiet, little-known village in beautiful countryside and well away from busy roads. It has an active and friendly community with a church, cricket club and many village events. The large village of Ashcott is nearby and Street, Glastonbury and Wedmore are within short driving distances.

Description

About the area

The village carries a unique historical heritage with a Roman ladder formation and has been around since Saxon times. Interestingly, it was the location of a significant hoard of roman treasure (on display in the Taunton Museum) and had been the subject of historical studies into rural village formations within England Glastonbury, Street Wells, Wedmore and Bridgwater, Taunton and Bristol also are within commuting distance and provide a wide range of facilities. There are good road communications with the M5 and A303, Bristol and Exeter airports and direct rail services to London at Taunton and Castle Cary. The area has excellent state and independent schools including various primary schools, Hugh Sexeys Kings of Wessex, Millfield, Sidcot, Wells Cathedral and the Taunton and Bristol schools.

Directions
