Willow Cottage has a wonderful location on a “no through” country lane just over a mile from the centre of the village of Mark and about 5 miles from Wedmore.

The house has great accommodation of towards 3,000 sq. ft. which includes a large hall, cloakroom, sitting room, dining room, snug, garden room, kitchen, utility room plus an additional ground floor reception room which is equally suited as a 5th bedroom. On the first floor are 4 bedrooms and 4 bath or shower rooms. These include a master suite with dressing room and shower room, a second suite again with dressing room plus a bathroom, a guest room with an en suite shower room and a fourth bedroom and family bathroom.

Outside there’s a large garage, plenty of parking, a summerhouse with a hot tub and a very manageable, mainly lawned garden – in all about a quarter of an acre

Mark is a village a few miles west of Wedmore and is surrounded by open countryside and many small lanes, droves and footpaths being ideal for walkers, cyclists and those who simply enjoy peace and quiet and observing nature. Wedmore, Glastonbury, Street, Highbridge and the Polden villages, plus the M5 are all within easy reach.

Willow Cottage is an attractive house, with rendered and whitened elevations under a tiled roof, which sits comfortably within its grounds. The property has neighbours but also has plenty of privacy and its own distinctive character and style. The accommodation is generous and flexible and the eastern part has various uses including, perhaps as an annexe for an elderly relative, visitors or paying guests in some form or other. The house has a farmhouse style kitchen, good bathrooms and lots of living space. Also, it benefits from double glazing and oil central heating. As a family house it takes some beating and offers great value.

The front door opens into a big hall which has a turned staircase, cloaks cupboard and a cloakroom with a basin and wc. To the right on entering is a dining room with plenty of room and this leads through to a 16ft.plus, well- proportioned sitting room which has a multi fuel stove with an attractive carved pine fireplace surround. Double doors lead through into a garden room which has big windows, French doors, velux roof lights and an air conditioning unit. Returning to the hall there are 2 further rooms. One being a comfortable snug and the other a further reception room which can easily be used as the 5th bedroom. It’s close to the cloakroom and also near the bathroom on the first floor.

The kitchen

The farmhouse style kitchen is of course the heart of the house and is a big room being nearly 20 feet in length with a tiled floor, a beamed ceiling, fitted units, a ceramic sink and a large Rangemaster range cooker in an inglenook style brick chimney breast. A door leads off into the utility room which has further units, a Belfast sink, space and plumbing for washing machine and dryer, the boiler and a door to the garden.

First Floor

The staircase leads to the landing which has a large airing cupboard. There are several bedroom suites on this floor and in all it has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The current owners use the bedroom suite on the western side which has a large bedroom with great views. It also has a dressing room with fitted wardrobes and cupboards and an en suite shower room with basin shower and wc. At the eastern end there is a 3rd suite with another large bedroom dressing room area with fitted wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with a basin, bath, shower and wc. The 3rd suite has a bedroom with an en suite shower room and the 4th bedroom is opposite to the family bathroom which has a basin, bath (with screen and shower above) and wc.

Double timber gates open to a tarmac drive which leads through the garden to the house and beyond to a sizeable garage. Just past the garage is a timber summerhouse with a hot tub. Beyond is a level lawned garden The front garden is protected by a stone wall and there are well clipped trees on the northern boundary alongside the drive. Other boundaries are thick, mature hedges and Willow Cottage enjoys plenty of privacy.

Castle Cary, a mainline station, is about 25 miles whilst Bristol International Airport is 17 miles away.?

From Wedmore take the B3139 westwards to the village of Mark. Continue through the village, pass the church, continue and pass the White horse Inn on the right-hand side and a couple of hundred yards on continue on the B3139 as it turns 90° to the right. Continue for about 600 yards and then take the first left turn by a red brick house. Road signposted Burtle. Continue for about 200 yards. The road forks to the left but continue straight on, signposted no through road. Continue 200 yards and Willow Cottage is on the right.
